Unleashing the Greener North Summit
The Unleashing the Greener North Summit is the historic official national launch of the Tree Star Strategy — Nigeria’s boldest and most ambitious community-owned reforestation and peace-building programme.
This landmark Summit will officially commence the planting and permanent 100-year protection of 50 million trees annually across Northern Nigeria. It will serve as the grand platform for the unveiling of the transformative “Great Green Seam” project — a continuous protective green corridor spanning the 12 core Northern States.
The event will feature the signing of Strategic MOUs by State Governments and Traditional Leaders, the launch of the National Game Reserve Rescue Programme (Falgore as pilot), and the presentation of groundbreaking academic papers by 12 distinguished professors, one from each of the 12 core Northern States.

Background & Rationale
Northern Nigeria stands at a critical crossroads. Desertification, farmer-herder clashes, rural migration, youth emigration, hunger, and insecurity continue to threaten the region’s stability and future.
The Tree Star Strategy offers a comprehensive, people-centred solution: planting and protecting 50 million trees every year while professionally reviving dying Game Reserves. The “Great Green Seam” project — to be unveiled at this Summit — will create a living ecological shield across the 12 core Northern States, restoring land, securing water, and building lasting peace.
This Summit is not merely ceremonial. It is the ignition point for a generational transformation that will restore the North’s environment, economy, and social harmony.
